Conversations With Clients Who Are Owed Child Support
As the Director of Client Services for a private child support enforcement agency, I’m fortunate to be able to meet a variety of individual and help them navigate through the child support collection process. I’d like to share some of their words of wisdom with you and what I have learned from them.
The common thread that one would think you would see is hopelessness. That is not the case with the clients I speak with. They are driven, self motivating and more importantly learning to be self sufficient. They learn to do without and how to keep family as the focal core value when there is a huge influence ( usually the NCP) to show that family means nothing and that it’s OK to not follow through. Many of my clients won’t take “no” for an answer and force you to try and look beyond the box to creative ways to get new info. They work 2-3 jobs to make sure that the children see the value in hard work and what it means to be proud. The show the family that giving up is not an option and the keep trying no matter what challenges life has brought them. Our clients have a courage around then that many don’t understand as it is hard to wait day after day for a small payment from someone who should care just a little more.\
Thankfulness is also something that is a common theme. While we don’t always get the desired results from our work, we do get the support from clients who appreciate being heard, appreciate the help we try to offer and some of the advice we can give,
So, where am I going with this? Do yourself a favor and take a look at the program Support Collectors has to offer. We cannot promise a quick solution but we can promise to give your case the attention it deserves.
